Vacation Begins…

“To read well, that is, to read true books in a true spirit, is a noble exercise, and one that will task the reader more than any exercise which customs of the day esteem. It requires a training such as the athletes underwent, the steady intention almost of the whole life to this object.” – Henry David Thoreau, Walden

A condo surrounded by scenic views of mountains, filled with books like Walden by Henry David Thoreau and Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman and a quaint little writing desk with a table lamp – what more could a book worm ask for on her vacation? Can I send the kids somewhere else and enjoy some uninterrupted reading time, listen to the sounds of nature and go on long leisurely strolls through the numerous scenic walking trails around here by myself? Maybe I could sit at the beautiful writing desk that I was so excited to discover, watch the sun setting into the mountains, filling the sky with beautiful oranges, reds and purples and get inspired to paint or write something beautiful? I am in heaven ❤️

Road Trip!

Road trip into the mountains ❤️ I am only a couple of chapters into Keeper of Lost Things but it seems like an easy read so far. I have read a couple of intense books lately so this could be a welcome change.

Another rock painting session with the boys…

Rock painting with my mother and my boys…I find rock painting to be an easy and quick self care activity that I am able to squeeze in during the day while taking care of my kids. When I need a short break during the day to regroup, I pull out a rock, my paint pens and sit down at the table working on it. I always keep a supply of rocks readily available for this activity. My kids almost always join me with their own rocks to paint.

Coloring is another such activity that also helps me relax and regroup, that I am able to easily squeeze in while taking care of the kids. But, somehow coloring does not generate the same interest in my kids as rock painting does. My kids are always ready to join me in rock painting and I use it to everybody’s benefit. We have made quite a few beautiful indoor and outdoor rock gardens/displays with all the rocks that we painted ❤️
