A funny and interesting introduction to the monsters from the Greek and Roman Mythology. My nearly 5 year olds are obsessed with this book. I picked it up from the library not knowing if it would be too scary for them. I didn’t even look up the age recommendation actually. I thought it looked interesting, and I love Greek Mythology, so it was an easy decision for me to check this one out from@the library. .
With engaging illustrations of the Basilisk, the Cyclops, The Pegasus, The Sphinx, etc, and funny text to go with it, this book turned out to be a clear winner with my boys. I read it aloud to them three times in the past week and still every night they beg me to read it again. I also caught them discussing the various monsters among themselves several times during the day. I did leave out some text when I read it to them. I just read the descriptions of the monsters and left out the stories behind them because I felt that my boys are still too young to absorb all those stories. But for a 7 or an 8 year old kid, the stories could also be quite fascinating.
