Self Care Sunday: This weekend’s self care practice was reading thanksgiving books and making thanksgiving crafts with the kiddos. We borrowed ‘175 Easy-to-do Thanksgiving Crafts’ from our library recently. We picked out a couple of simple and easy crafts from this book and worked on them together. We made a candy holder turkey and a Mayflower paper wall hanging. I asked the kids what they were thankful for and wrote what they said on the feathers of the candy holder turkey. Here’s what I got from them:
Twin1: I am thankful for all the people on the earth.
Twin2: I am thankful for the world and all the countries inside it.
Daughter: I am thankful for my family, my friends, my house and my books.
We read ‘Thanksgiving Day Thanks’ by Laura Malone Elliot. It’s a very average read but it talks about the story behind thanksgiving in simple terms. I am still on the lookout for more interesting thanksgiving read aloud picture/story books. Please pass on your recommendations.
