This weekend’s self care exercise is reading loads of spooky/funny Halloween picture books and making salt dough/play dough diyas at home with the kids. We are primarily nesting and enjoying some family bonding time while a nasty storm rages outside this weekend in our area. We have been reading lots of Halloween stories and watching Halloween movies (Diego’s Halloween, Alvin and the Chipmunks Halloween edition) as we all soak up in the spooky Halloween excitement that’s been going around in our house.
Yesterday, we also made salt dough and play doh diyas, cooked delicious Indian snacks & sweets, practiced a Diwali song to sing at school and tried out our Indian dresses in preparation for Diwali. Our diyas are super creative as the boys experimented with their animal shaped beads for decorating them 😄
All of these Halloween books have been getting a lot of love from my kids but Druscilla’s Halloween, Candy Witch, Froggy’s Halloween, In The Haunted House, Monster Mischief and The Perfect Pumpkin Pie have been our absolute favorites.
BTW, we also lost power a few times yesterday to give us that special Halloween feel 😃
