The kids have been bringing in lots of leaves of different colors, sizes and shapes from outside on a daily basis. We used them to make leaf sun catchers. We practiced rubbing leaves with crayons. We practiced painting leaves and pressing them on paper. And we also made a centerpiece for our dining table by filling a glass vase with water, dipping the leaves in the water and observing the water change colors.
All our art projects are now hung up around the house. They are reminders to me to always build adequate free time into our daily lives to spend time together. This is very tough to accomplish and requires a strict scrutiny on where I choose to spend my time. But with practice and commitment, it gets easier. As someone wise said already, “The key question to keep asking is, Are you spending your time on right things? Because time is all you have.”
