This was another great find for our family book tour of Mexico! A little boy makes bean soup with help from his mama. As he adds various ingredients to it, the author uses simple poetic language to describe each ingredient. For example, the beans are stars, there are salt volcanoes, the pot is as round as a moon, etc. The illustrations are great and the language is simple and yet poetic. The recipe itself is so simple that this can easily be turned into a family activity of making bean soup together. I have plans to make a shopping list together with my kids, go to the grocery store together to buy all the items that we need, make the soup together and enjoy eating it together as a family. Looking forward to it!
