Summer Break Begins…

Bug soup: water + plastic bugs + stones + seashells + water beads. Summer break started this week for the boys and the weather is getting warmer over here now. So I decided to indulge them with some outdoor water play yesterday. They washed my car with the garden hose. Then they made this bug soup. I gave them ladles, sieves, funnels, plastic buckets, cups, etc (I have a stash of these all purchased from the dollar store), dressed them in their swim wear and sat on a chair on the driveway watching them play. They played happily for hours stirring the soup, separating the solids from the liquid, observing the water beads expand in the water, filling more water in the tub until it overflowed, etc. Such great practical science and math lessons for three year olds! My ten year old also enjoyed filling her winter sled with water + water beads and soaking her feet in it ❤️
